At the packed NYTech meetup – the auditorium is full! Meetup has now 17,300 members, started at 2004 with a small bunch of people. So what used to be a small and intimate meetup has become a huge conference: @robertothais: I always see people coding now at the Starbucks around Broadway. Wasn’t like this just a year ago #nytech and @matteoc: #nytech #meetup is not a meetup anymore: it’s a monthly conference (@ Skirball Center for the Performing Arts) http://4sq.com/hLsCo7. So big, that the meetup has announced an MD: Jessica Laurence.

Lemonade Stand – 3 guys who met on the Hackaton bus on the way from NY to #SXSW aand come up with a product. Team has demoed hacking into google maps and embedding a pic they took of their camera, offering it for sale on a specific location on the map, including a phone number which you can use to call directly.

Readability – (from the arc90 agency) – Readability pulls the content from the page and yanks it into a page without all the crap around it, and assembles it into your own personalized ‘read later’ magazine. User now offers customization of look and feel of the page and keep it stays with you as you read more articles. New eCommerce level was to product: writers get cheques based on how much they are being “pulled” into the platform.

Brainscape -Learning faster, be it language, medical files or court cases. The idea is to create focused groups with community created flash-cards. You can create flash crads with image, text, audio and video. VocabJunkie app on iphone mimics online services and is available with ni wifi for when you get stuck in the tube.

MeeGenious - looks like I am going to like this one havingmy life now spinning around a half year old – the service offers  great personalization of digital books including: adding reading the story in your voice, add names that then get integrated to the story. This is available on ipad too.

exfm – integrating with tumblr and twitter friends to form an activity stream of the songs your friends are listening to.

Runens – pne of the best apps shown tonight: an app for runners: pic a goal (distance, time, specific challenges), see who is running next to me with similar goals, check environmental conditions, the app gives feedback on progress during the run
